Overview
The Director of Business Development plays a critical role in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and increasing profitability within the educational management services industry. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives, managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles, and building long-term partnerships with educational institutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of school funding systems, K–12 procurement practices, and education administration, combined with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with local, regional, and national Operations teams to secure new business opportunities.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, market segments, and growth areas within the education sector across Southern California and Arizona.
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies aligned with organizational goals and the education marketplace.
- Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and executive-level presentations.
- Interpret and communicate school funding structures, budgetary processes, and recruitment dynamics.
- Deliver persuasive presentations to educational executives, board members, district administrators, and key stakeholders.
- Attend educational conferences and industry events to expand relationships and generate sales opportunities.
- Analyze sales performance, market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform growth strategies.
- Manage a full-cycle sales pipeline while meeting or exceeding annual new sales quotas.
- Travel approximately 50–60% of the time across a contiguous multi-state territory.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, marketing, sales, or a related field.
- Three to five (3–5+) years of experience in sales as an individual contributor, preferably within the education sector.
- Solid knowledge of education administration practices, special education and related services, and K–12 procurement.
- Proficiency with sales methodologies, CRM systems, and sales analytics tools.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent software.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing market conditions and develop innovative sales strategies.
- Proven ability to manage all facets of a sales pipeline while maintaining focus and accountability.
- Existing relationships or points of contact in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana are a plus.
- Must reside in Southern California.
