Summary: The Nursing Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the efficient and effective operation of nursing units within our healthcare facility. This role is responsible for planning, administering, and evaluating the twenty-four-hour nursing unit operation, ensuring exceptional patient care. The Nursing Manager also manages staffing, coordinates patient rounds with physicians, maintains clinical records, and serves as a key point of contact for patient-related inquiries.

Leadership and Management:

*Lead, supervise, and mentor nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.

*Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance patient outcomes and streamline operations.

*Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote interdisciplinary communication and teamwork.

Staffing and Resource Allocation:

*Assign duties to nursing unit personnel based on patients’ needs, acuity, and staffing availability.

*Monitor and adjust staffing levels to maintain optimal nurse-to-patient ratios.

*Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of nursing staff.

Patient Care Coordination:

*Attend patient rounds with physicians, providing valuable insights, answering questions regarding patients’ conditions, and receiving physician orders.

*Ensure that patients receive the appropriate level of care, treatments, and medications as prescribed by physicians.

*Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.

Recordkeeping and Documentation:

*Direct the preparation and maintenance of patients’ clinical records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

*Implement electronic health record (EHR) systems and ensure staff proficiency in EHR documentation.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

*Monitor nursing unit performance, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to enhance quality of care.

*Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

Budget Management:

*Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the nursing unit budget.

*Monitor expenses, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings.

Qualifications:

*Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

*Valid state nursing license and current BLS and ACLS certifications.

*Proven experience in nursing leadership and management, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.

*Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, policies, and best practices.

*Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

*Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

*Ability to work collaboratively and make critical decisions in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
